The active ingredient is metronidazole, an antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent that is largely absorbed through the intestines. Due to its affinity for fats, it spreads rapidly throughout all tissues. It is absorbed and is not affected by the stomach contents of food. It is not used for kittens and newborn puppies.
Indications:
- Treatment of diarrhea in animals infected with intestinal parasites.
- Treatment of animals infected with anaerobic bacteria, purulent mastitis and uterine infections.
- Pneumonia and gingivitis in dogs and cats.
- In animals with kidney and liver disorders, half or a quarter of the dose is given.
Dosage:
- For dogs and cats to treat anaerobic dysentery: 15 mg/1 kg/12 hours for 7 days,
- For the treatment of giardiasis: 12-15 mg/1 kg/12 hours for 8 days.
- It should not be given to animals known to be allergic to it or to any nitroimidazole group drug.
